Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
The RPL24 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L24E family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. Although previously referred to as ribosomal protein L30 due to sequence similarity with yeast L30 proteins, its official name is ribosomal protein L24.
Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
