Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human IL-6. The antibody was purified by affinity chromatography using an immobilized Human IL-6 matrix.
Sandwich ELISA:
For detecting Human IL-6, use 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody (100 µL/well). When paired with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human IL-6 (500-P26Bt) as detection antibody, it detects ≥0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human IL-6.
Western Blot:
Use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Detection limit for Recombinant Human IL-6 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Target Information
IL-6 (Interleukin-6)
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B-cell maturation. It functions as an endogenous pyrogen and is secreted at sites of acute and chronic inflammation. Through the interleukin 6 receptor alpha, it triggers transcriptional inflammatory responses.
Elevated IL-6 levels are associated with diseases such as diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi Sarcoma, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Increased IL-6 expression has also been observed in viral infections, including COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 infection).
