Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Factor X.
Target Information
Factor X undergoes multiple processing steps before its preproprotein is converted to a mature two-chain form by excision of the tripeptide RKR. The two chains are held together by disulfide bonds; the light chain contains two EGF-like domains, and the heavy chain contains the catalytic domain homologous to other hemostatic serine proteases. Activation occurs via cleavage by factor IXa (intrinsic pathway) or factor VIIa (extrinsic pathway), enabling conversion of prothrombin to thrombin in the presence of factor Va, Ca²⁺, and phospholipids during blood clotting. Mutations in this gene cause factor X deficiency, a hemorrhagic disorder of variable severity.
