Antibody detects endogenous levels of total RGPD5.
Target Information
The RANBP2-like and GRIP domain containing 5 protein (RGPD5) shows high similarity to RANBP2, a large RAN-binding protein localized at the cytoplasmic side of the nuclear pore complex.
RGPD5 gene is thought to have arisen from a duplication event of RANBP2, with both genes located close together at chromosome 2q11–q12.
RGPD5 was identified as an HIV dependency factor (HDF), suggesting potential as a drug target in HIV treatment.
Two isoforms of RGPD5 are known:
- Short isoform: primarily expressed in testis
- Long isoform: expressed at low levels in various somatic tissues
