Product Specific Information

Reconstitution: Reconstitute with 25 µL, 50 µL, or 0.2 mL of double distilled water (DDW), depending on sample size.
The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature. Upon arrival, store at -20°C.
The reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C for up to 1 week. For longer storage, aliquot and store at -20°C.
Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10,000 × g, 5 min).

Target Information

Synaptophysin is a calcium-binding integral membrane glycoprotein present in presynaptic vesicles of nearly all neurons.
It contains four transmembrane domains and forms a complex with dynamin under high calcium conditions, suggesting a role in synaptic vesicle endocytosis.
Synaptophysin is involved in regulating short- and long-term synaptic plasticity and is widely used as a marker for nerve terminals and neuroendocrine tumor differentiation.
Mutations in the gene can cause X-linked mental retardation (type 96).
