Target Information
GRPEL2 (GrpE Like 2, Mitochondrial)
GRPEL2 is a protein-coding gene involved in mitochondrial protein import and metabolism of proteins.
Gene Ontology (GO) annotations include protein homodimerization activity and chaperone binding.
An important paralog of this gene is GRPEL1.
GRPEL2 is an essential component of the PAM complex, required for translocation of transit peptide-containing proteins from the inner membrane into the mitochondrial matrix in an ATP-dependent manner. It controls the nucleotide-dependent binding of mitochondrial HSP70 to substrate proteins, stimulates ATPase activity of mt-HSP70, and may modulate the interconversion between oligomeric (inactive) and monomeric (active) forms of mt-HSP70.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
