Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody TBP-1 recognizes Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor type I (TNF-RI).
TNF receptors are expressed on various human somatic cells including fibroblasts, endothelial cells, adipocytes, liver membranes, granulocytes, and several tumor cell lines.
Gel filtration experiments indicate the receptor is a complex of proteins (~350 kDa). Two TNF receptor types (75–80 kDa and 55–60 kDa) have been identified, and their cDNAs cloned.
The extracellular fragment (~30 kDa) of the 60 kDa TNF receptor is produced by proteolytic cleavage, containing most of the extracellular portion and all three N-glycosylation sites.

Target Information

TNFR1 (Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor 1) is a member of the TNF superfamily and a primary receptor for TNF-alpha.
It mediates cytokine signaling, positively regulates the NF-κB pathway and angiogenesis, and negatively regulates gene expression.
The extracellular domain can be released as soluble TNFR1 (sTNFR1). In humans, the TNFR1 gene is located on chromosome 12.
TNFR1 interacts with BAG4/SODD, TRADD, and TRAF2, which regulate receptor-mediated signal transduction.
Mutations in TNFR1 extracellular domains are associated with autosomal dominant periodic fever syndrome due to impaired receptor clearance.
