Target Information
JMJD1A is a histone demethylase that specifically demethylates Lys-9 of histone H3, playing a central role in histone code regulation. It preferentially acts on mono- and dimethylated H3 Lys-9 residues, generating formaldehyde and succinate. JMJD1A participates in hormone-dependent transcriptional activation and spermatogenesis by regulating gene expression such as PRM1 and TMP1. It also contributes to obesity resistance through control of metabolic genes including PPARA and UCP1.
