Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a family of peroxidases involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prxs include six members classified into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx groups.
Prx VI, belonging to the 1-Cys subgroup, differs from other Prxs that exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH.
Mammalian Prxs are 20–30 kDa in size and localized in various cellular compartments: Prx I, II, VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secreted; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
