Target Information
Heme oxygenase는 heme ring을 alpha methane bridge에서 절단하여 biliverdin을 형성하며, biliverdin은 biliverdin reductase에 의해 bilirubin으로 전환됩니다. 정상 생리 조건에서 heme oxygenase 활성은 노화된 적혈구가 파괴되는 비장에서 가장 높습니다. 또한 과도한 자유 heme이 세포를 apoptosis로 유도하는 것을 방지하는 세포 보호 작용을 합니다.
