NRAMP1 (SLC11A1) is a member of the solute carrier family 11, functioning as a proton-coupled divalent metal ion transporter involved in iron metabolism and host resistance to pathogens. Mutations are associated with susceptibility to infectious diseases (leprosy, tuberculosis) and inflammatory diseases (Crohn disease, rheumatoid arthritis). Several alternatively spliced variants exist, with one full-length form identified.
