Target Information
Second messenger cAMP causes the opening of cation-selective cyclic nucleotide-gated (CNG) channels and depolarization of olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs). CNGA4 acts as a modulatory subunit in this channel, playing a central role in odorant signal transduction and adaptation. It accelerates calcium-mediated negative feedback in olfactory signaling, enabling rapid adaptation to odor stimulation and extending odor detection range.
