Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
SOD1 (superoxide dismutase 1) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. This soluble cytoplasmic homodimer converts harmful superoxide radicals into molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is mitochondrial. Mutations in this gene are associated with familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Rare transcript variants have been reported.
