MA1-74347 recognises Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin type A.
Staphylococcus aureus produces several different types of enterotoxins (SEs), which are short, soluble, and highly stable proteins resistant to most proteolytic enzymes.
These belong to a family of pyrogenic toxins that induce fever, immunosuppression, and non-specific T-cell proliferation (superantigen activity) through interaction with T-cell receptors and MHC on antigen-presenting cells.
Additionally, SEs are emetic toxins involved in food poisoning. Enterotoxin A is one of the most commonly identified SEs in clinical isolates.
MA1-74347 may be used as a capture antibody in ELISA assays for S. aureus enterotoxin A, in combination with MCA2848 as a detection antibody.
