Mouse anti-Horse CD11a/CD18 antibody, clone CVS18 recognizes equine CD44, a plasma membrane glycoprotein broadly expressed on the cell surface of leucocytes.
Reconstitute by adding 1 mL distilled water.
Target Information
CD44 cell surface antigen is a 100 kDa type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on human leucocytes, white matter of the brain, and certain epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
Several isoforms exist, with CD44H being predominant in normal tissues. CD44 acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and plays roles in cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
It is involved in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing, and may be upregulated in some carcinomas, potentially linked to metastatic potential.
CD44 is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia in cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express high levels of CD44, while peripheral B and T cells can upregulate expression upon stimulation.
Alternative splicing of CD44 transcripts leads to various isoforms with distinct functions. Diseases associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus. CD44 may also be implicated in tumor metastasis formation.
