Target Information

Neuropilin 1 is a 923 amino acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family, containing two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. It forms a heterodimer with Neuropilin 2 (NRP2) and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors.
Expressed mainly in the nervous system, Neuropilin 1 is involved in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, neuronal migration, and organogenesis. It functions as a receptor for semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis. Neuropilin 1 may also play roles in aggressive prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
