Target Information
Neuregulin 2 (NRG2) is a member of the neuregulin family of growth and differentiation factors. It interacts with the Erbb family of receptors to induce growth and differentiation of epithelial, neuronal, glial, and other cell types.
The NRG2 gene consists of 12 exons and has a genomic structure similar to neuregulin 1 (NRG1). Although located near the Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease locus, NRG2 is not responsible for this disease.
Alternative transcripts encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
