Target Information
PCAF (histone acetyltransferase KAT2B) functions as a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) that promotes transcriptional activation. It acetylates core histones (H3 and H4) and nucleosome core particles, as well as non-histone proteins such as ACLY, PLK4, and TBX5. PCAF inhibits cell-cycle progression and counteracts the mitogenic activity of the adenoviral oncoprotein E1A. It also acts as a circadian transcriptional coactivator enhancing NPAS2-ARNTL/BMAL1 and CLOCK-ARNTL/BMAL1 heterodimers. Additionally, it is involved in heart and limb development through acetylation of TBX5 and regulation of its nucleocytoplasmic shuttling.
