Target Information
EEF2K (eukaryotic elongation factor 2 kinase) is a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase in the calmodulin signaling pathway. Its activity is elevated in cancers such as breast cancer. EEF2K regulates protein synthesis by controlling peptide chain elongation. Upon activation by upstream kinases (e.g., AMPK or TRPM7), EEF2K phosphorylates elongation factor EEF2 at a specific site, preventing ribosome binding and reducing protein synthesis rates.
