This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05–0.1%) to avoid contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal production clones.

Target Information

C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a major cyclic, pentameric acute phase protein composed of five identical, noncovalently bound, nonglycosylated subunits (each 206 amino acids, ~24 kDa).
Produced by the liver, CRP plasma levels rise dramatically during inflammation, infection, or injury (up to 100–1000 fold).

CRP functions include:

• Initiation of classical complement cascade
• Binding to nuclear components (chromatin, histones, snRNP)
• Activation of monocytes/macrophages
• Acting as an opsonin and scavenger during cell necrosis

Elevated basal CRP levels are associated with increased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
