Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. It catalyzes the reversible transfer of phosphate between ATP and phosphogens such as creatine phosphate. The enzyme functions as a homodimer in brain and other tissues, and as a heterodimer with a muscle isozyme in heart. It belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase protein family. A pseudogene of this gene has been characterized.
