This antibody detects transfected PRL3 protein.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a small class of prenylated protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs). PTPs are signaling molecules that regulate various cellular processes. This class of PTPs contains a PTP domain and a C-terminal prenylation motif. Studies in mice demonstrated that these proteins are prenylated in vivo and associated with the plasma membrane. Overexpression of this gene in mammalian cells inhibits angiotensin-II induced calcium mobilization and promotes cell growth. Two alternatively spliced variants exist. PRL-3 expression is upregulated in human liver carcinoma and may contribute to liver metastasis in colorectal cancer. It is also expressed in tumor metastasis and vasculature regardless of tumor source.
