Product Specific Information

The M1/70 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD11b (integrin alphaM, 165–170 kDa). CD11b associates with CD18 to form the αMβ2 integrin (Mac-1), which binds CD54 (ICAM-1), C3bi, and fibrinogen. It is expressed on macrophages, NK cells, granulocytes, activated lymphocytes, and mouse B-1 cells. M1/70 also cross-reacts with human CD11b, detecting this antigen on human peripheral blood monocytes, granulocytes, and NK cell subsets.

Target Information

CD11b (Integrin alpha-M, ITGAM) is a 165 kDa adhesion molecule forming a heterodimer with CD18 (Integrin beta-2). The CD11b/CD18 complex (Mac-1, CR3) acts as a receptor for ICAM-1, ICAM-2, ICAM-4, CD14, CD50, CD23, heparin, iC3b, fibrinogen, and Factor X. It is expressed on monocytes/macrophages, granulocytes, activated lymphocytes, NK cell subsets, dendritic cells, and microglia. CD11b expression increases during monocyte maturation and varies across macrophage populations. It serves as a key marker for microglia in nervous tissue.

Diseases associated with CD11b dysfunction include systemic lupus erythematosus and ITGAM-related autoimmune susceptibility.
