GPRC6A is an orphan G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) with an unknown ligand. GPCRs represent one of the largest families of signaling molecules, sharing a structural motif of seven membrane-spanning helices and existing in both active and inactive forms. Ligand binding triggers conformational changes leading to G-protein signaling and downstream effects.
