This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
This antibody has specificity for Human IL-33.

Target Information

IL-33 (Interleukin-33) is a 270 amino acid protein belonging to the IL-1 family with an IL-1-like C-terminal domain. IL-33 functions as both a proinflammatory cytokine and an intracellular nuclear factor with transcriptional regulatory properties. It binds to and signals through IL1RL1/ST2, recruiting MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, and TRAF6, which activate NF-kappaB and MAP kinases, leading to production of TH2-associated cytokines such as IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13.
IL-33 is expressed in high endothelial venules of tonsils, Peyer’s patches, and mesenteric lymph nodes, but is nearly undetectable in placenta. Prolonged IL-33 treatment in mice induces eosinophilia, splenomegaly, and pathological changes in mucosal organs.
Despite its predicted molecular weight, IL-33 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE. Studies indicate IL-33 may act as both a proinflammatory cytokine and a transcriptional repressor.
