Target Information
MAPK3 (ERK1) is a serine/threonine kinase that acts as an important activator of p90, RSK, MSK, ELK1, and Stat3, and plays a key role in the MAPK signaling pathway. ERK1 is broadly expressed and regulates meiosis, mitosis, and post-mitotic functions in differentiated cells. It is activated by various stimuli such as growth factors, cytokines, viral infections, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands. Activated ERK1 translocates to the nucleus to phosphorylate nuclear targets, influencing cellular processes including proliferation, differentiation, and cell cycle progression. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
