This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Napsin A protein.
Target Information
Napsin 1 is an aspartic protease predominantly expressed in the lung, and also found in kidney and metastatic carcinomas. It processes surfactant protein B in pulmonary and renal tissues but is dysregulated during carcinogenesis. Napsin evaluation assists in identifying various cancers and differentiating primary tumors from metastases. When combined with thyroid transcription factor analysis, it serves as a specific biomarker for carcinoma type differentiation. Additionally, Napsin has been linked to pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and protein catabolism in renal tubules.
