CDC42BPB is a serine/threonine kinase involved in actin cytoskeleton assembly and organization.
Myotonic dystrophy kinase-related Cdc42-binding kinases (MRCK-alpha, MRCK-beta) contain a cysteine-rich motif and a pleckstrin homology domain.
MRCKs phosphorylate nonmuscle Myosin light chain and influence Actin-Myosin contractility.
MRCK-alpha can phosphorylate and activate LIM kinases downstream of Cdc42, leading to inactivation of ADF/Cofilin and actin cytoskeletal reorganization.
Additionally, MRCK-alpha can influence neurite outgrowth promoted by Cdc42 and Rac.
