CYLD는 세포질 내 탈유비퀴틴화 효소로, ubiquitin carboxy-terminal hydrolases (UCH) 계열에 속하며 956개의 아미노산으로 구성되어 있습니다. 세 개의 CAP-GLY 도메인, proline-rich 영역, SH3 결합 도메인, 그리고 UCH 촉매 도메인과의 서열 상동성을 가집니다.
CYLD는 종양 억제 단백질로 JNK 신호전달 경로에 영향을 주며, TRAF2 및 NF-κB 신호전달 경로의 음성 조절자 역할을 합니다. 또한 I-κB kinase 경로의 수용체 의존적 조절에도 관여합니다.
CYLD는 Lys-48 비연결형 폴리유비퀴틴 사슬에 대한 탈유비퀴틴화 활성을 가지며, TRAP1이 새로운 탈유비퀴틴화 기질로 알려져 있습니다.
