G protein-coupled receptor 39 (GPR39) is an orphan receptor in the Ghrelin family pathway. Studies indicate that GPR39 plays roles in hypertension, adipogenesis, and its overexpression is associated with malignant development of human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
