NR2E3 (NR2 Hepatocyte NF4-Like Receptor)는 망막 발달 중 원추세포 증식에 영향을 주는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 인간 망막 형성 과정에서 광수용체 표현형을 결정하는 역할을 하며, RD7 마우스에서 NR2E3의 결손은 유전성 망막 이형성과 변성을 유발합니다. 또한, NR2E3의 동형접합성 missense 변이는 특정 집단의 망막색소변성증과 관련이 있습니다. NR2E3는 망막에서 발현되며, 인간 폐, 대장, 난소의 암 조직 및 정상 안구 조직에서 EST가 분리되었습니다.
