Target Information
Dual specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) inactivate their target kinases by dephosphorylating both the phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues.
DUSPs are divided into six subgroups based on sequence similarity: PRLs, Cdc14 phosphatases, PTENs, myotubularins, MKPs, and atypical DUSPs.
DUSP inhibitors may modulate MAPK and cellular responses in both positive and negative ways.
The regulated expression and activity of DUSP family members control MAPK intensity and duration, influencing physiological outcomes.
DUSP12 (also known as YVH1 or GKAP) contains the consensus DUSP catalytic domain and an extended C-terminal domain of unknown function, possibly related to glucokinase regulation. It is localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus.
