Target Information
Chemokines are a family of proteins involved in leukocyte trafficking during immune surveillance and inflammation. They are classified by the positions of key cysteine residues.
CX3CL1 is a CX3C chemokine that mediates leukocyte adhesion (membrane-bound form) and migration (soluble form).
Studies suggest CX3CL1 suppresses production of nitric oxide, IL-6, and TNF-α in activated microglia and neuronal cells, indicating a potential neuroprotective role.
Its receptor, CX3CR1, also serves as a co-receptor for HIV-1 and HIV-2 envelope fusion and infection, which can be inhibited by CX3CL1.
