Target Information
The gamma-Tubulin complex is composed of gamma Tubulin and associated proteins GCP2, GCP3, GCP4, GCP5, and GCP6, all essential components of microtubule organizing centers. These components localize to both the centrosome and cytoplasm, contributing to microtubule nucleation and organization.
GCP5 (gamma-Tubulin complex component 5), also known as TUBGCP5, is a 1,024 amino acid protein highly expressed in heart and skeletal muscle. Mutations in the GCP5 gene are associated with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), a genetic disorder characterized by obesity, compulsive behavior, and intellectual disability.
