Target Information
CD50 (intracellular adhesion molecule 3, ICAM-3) is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by leukocytes, serving as a counter-receptor for the lymphocyte function-associated antigen (LFA)-1 integrin. It functions as an adhesive molecule mediating contact between T cells and antigen-presenting cells, regulates LFA-1 affinity for ICAM-1, and induces T cell activation and proliferation. ICAM-3 is essential in initiating immune responses on both T cells and antigen-presenting cells and interacts with CD209 (DC-SIGN), a C-type lectin found on dendritic cells and macrophages, facilitating communication between dendritic cells and granulocytes.
