Target Information
This gene encodes a protein involved in cytokinesis. The protein is highly expressed during the S and G2/M phases of mitosis but decreases significantly as the cell exits mitosis and enters the G1 phase. It localizes to the nucleus during interphase, associates dynamically with mitotic spindles during mitosis, and concentrates at the cell mid-body during cytokinesis. This protein is a substrate for several cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and is essential for polarizing parallel microtubules and assembling the contractile ring.
