PLEKHM2, also known as SKIP, is a member of the M family of Pleckstrin homology domain-containing proteins. It is specifically expressed in human hematopoietic stem cells, suggesting a role in erythroid commitment and development. Additionally, PLEKHM2 interacts with the Salmonella virulence factor SifA, indicating cellular functions beyond embryonic development.
