Target Information
PAK4 is a serine/threonine p21 activating kinase involved in the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and the formation of filopodia. It belongs to the second group of PAKs (PAK4, 5, and 6), which are not activated by Cdc42/Rac binding. PAK4 functions as an effector of Cdc42Hs, inducing filopodia and actin polymerization, and plays essential roles in embryonic viability and neuronal development. It is also implicated in anchorage-independent tumor cell growth and activation of cancer prosurvival pathways.
