Product Specific Information

The 90 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD38 molecule, an ~42 kDa type II transmembrane protein. CD38 is expressed at increasingly higher levels on B cells during differentiation and is down-regulated on germinal center B cells and mature plasma cells. It is also expressed on subsets of thymocytes, mature T cells, and NK cells. Crosslinking of CD38 induces B-cell proliferation, enhanced by IL-4 and LPS co-signals. CD38 acts as a counter-receptor for CD31 and functions as an ectoenzyme with cyclase and hydrolase activity, playing roles in lymphocyte activation and differentiation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocyte suspensions. Recommended use ≤ 0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Titrate for optimal performance.

Alexa Fluor® 700 emits at 723 nm and can be excited with the red laser (633 nm). Typical detection setup: 685 LP mirror, 710/20 filter.

Target Information

CD38 (NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein involved in activation, proliferation, and differentiation of lymphocytes, and apoptosis of progenitor cells. It serves as a multi-catalytic ectoenzyme (ADP-ribosyl cyclase, cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase, NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) and as a receptor. CD38 antibodies are used for lymphoma and leukemia subtyping, plasma cell detection (myelomas), and as markers for activated B/T cells. CD38 is highly expressed in pancreas, liver, kidney, malignant lymphoma, and neuroblastoma. Associated diseases include chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Richter's Syndrome.
