This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

This antibody has specificity for Human SCF/C-kit ligand.

Target Information

Stem cell factor (SCF) is the ligand of the c-Kit oncogene and is expressed by various structural and inflammatory cells in the airways. Binding of SCF by the c-Kit receptor leads to homodimerization and activation of signaling pathways such as PI-3, PLC-gamma, Jak/STAT, and MAP kinase pathways.

SCF expression induces mast cell survival and release of histamine, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and chemokines. Inhibition of the SCF/c-Kit pathway decreases histamine levels, mast cell and eosinophil infiltration, IL-4 production, and airway hyperresponsiveness, suggesting therapeutic potential in inflammatory diseases such as asthma.

At least two isoforms of SCF are known to exist.
