FOXP1 유전자는 forkhead box (FOX) 전사 인자 패밀리의 P 아형에 속합니다. FOX 전사 인자는 발달 및 성체 단계에서 조직 및 세포 유형 특이적 유전자 전사를 조절하는 데 중요한 역할을 합니다. FOXP1 단백질은 DNA 결합 및 단백질-단백질 결합 도메인을 모두 포함하며, 여러 종양 유형에서 결실되어 종양 억제 유전자로 작용할 가능성이 있습니다. 3p14.1 염색체 영역에 위치하며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 전사 변형체가 생성됩니다.
