• For IHC on PFA-fixed tissues: incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• For formalin-fixed tissues: heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and serves as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed in T-helper cells but can also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 is detected in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of the brain and gut.
CD4 plays a key role in initiating T-cell activation through interaction with the T-cell receptor complex and the kinase Lck. It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune-mediated CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
