Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
The COL15A1 gene encodes the alpha chain of type XV collagen, a member of the FACIT collagen family (fibril-associated collagens with interrupted helices). Type XV collagen is widely distributed in tissues, with the strongest expression in basement membrane zones, suggesting a role in adhering basement membranes to underlying connective tissue stroma.
The C-terminal fragment of type XV collagen, restin, is a potentially antiangiogenic protein related to endostatin. Mouse studies indicate that collagen XV deficiency is associated with muscle and microvessel deterioration.
