Target Information
KDM5B is a histone demethylase that specifically demethylates Lys-4 of histone H3, playing a central role in histone code regulation. It does not demethylate H3 Lys-9 or Lys-27. KDM5B acts as a transcriptional corepressor for FOXG1B and PAX9 and promotes breast cancer cell proliferation by repressing tumor suppressor genes such as BRCA1 and HOXA5. Conversely, it may function as a tumor suppressor in melanoma.
