Target Information

MAPKAPK3 acts as an integrative element in mitogen and stress response signaling. It is a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAP kinase)-activated protein kinase. MAPKAPK3 is activated by growth inducers and stress stimulation of cells. In vitro, ERK, p38 MAP kinase, and Jun N-terminal kinase can phosphorylate and activate MAPKAPK3, indicating its role in integrating multiple signaling pathways.
MAPKAPK3 interacts with, phosphorylates, and represses the activity of E47, a transcription factor involved in tissue-specific gene expression and cell differentiation.
