Target Information
STK4 (MST1) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in apoptosis and chromatin condensation. Following caspase cleavage, it translocates to the nucleus and induces DNA fragmentation. As a core component of the Hippo signaling pathway, STK4/MST1 regulates organ size and tumor suppression by limiting proliferation and promoting apoptosis. It forms a kinase cascade with STK3/MST2 and SAV1 to activate LATS1/2, which phosphorylates and inhibits YAP1 and WWTR1/TAZ, controlling genes related to cell proliferation and migration. STK4/MST1 is essential for repressing hepatocyte proliferation and preventing tumor formation.
