Product Specific Information
No significant cross-reactivity to beta-Amyloid (1-42) has been observed. Previous lots of this antibody recognized the sequence of beta-Amyloid [1-40] in the region from amino acids 15–30. No blocking activity was observed with beta-Amyloid [1-12], whereas the peptides beta-Amyloid [14-35], beta-Amyloid [15-28], beta-Amyloid [17-30], and beta-Amyloid [1-40] were all able to block antibody activity.
Target Information
Beta-amyloid is a 40–43 amino acid peptide cleaved from amyloid precursor protein and a putative gamma-secretase. Amyloid beta (1-40) together with Amyloid beta (1-42) are two major C-terminal variants of the amyloid beta protein, constituting the majority of amyloid beta proteins. Both the amyloid beta (40) and amyloid beta (42) alloforms are major components of the extracellular plaques found in Alzheimer’s disease brain tissue.
