ALK 유전자의 돌연변이, 재배열 및 증폭은 다양한 종양에서 발견되며, 대표적으로 anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, non-small cell lung cancer 등이 있습니다.
염색체 재배열은 가장 흔한 유전적 변이 형태로, ALK 유전자(2번 염색체)와 nucleophosmin (NPM) 유전자(5번 염색체)의 융합으로 형성된 NPM-ALK fusion gene이 종양 형성과 관련이 있습니다.
ALK는 수용체 단백질 티로신 키나아제(receptor protein-tyrosine kinase)로, 뇌 발달 및 신경계 특정 뉴런의 기능에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
