Target Information

PTK2B (FAK2) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase involved in calcium-induced regulation of ion channels and activation of the MAP kinase signaling pathway. PTK2B regulates actin cytoskeleton reorganization, cell polarization, migration, adhesion, spreading, and bone remodeling. It plays a role in the regulation of the humoral immune response and is necessary for normal levels and migration of splenic B-cells. PTK2B functions downstream of integrin, collagen, immune, G-protein coupled, cytokine, chemokine, and growth factor receptors, mediating responses to cellular stress. Aberrant expression may contribute to cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and elevated expression has been observed in gliomas, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer.
