Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the IMD (IRSp53/MIM homology domain) family, subdivided into IRSp53-like and MIM-like groups based on the presence of the SH3 domain.
The encoded protein contains a conserved IMD (F-actin bundling domain) at the N-terminus and a canonical SH3 domain near the C-terminus, classifying it as IRSp53-like.
It acts as a substrate for insulin receptor tyrosine kinase and binds to the small GTPase Rac, participating in signal transduction pathways linking plasma membrane deformation with actin cytoskeleton remodeling.
Overexpression promotes actin assembly and membrane protrusions in mammalian cells and is essential for the formation of actin assembly complexes during EHEC pedestal formation.
